Nosara, Costa Rica
A week in the jungle above the Pacific: sunrise practice on an open-air deck, afternoons in the water, and evenings full of sound.
How the week actually went.
We arrived in Nosara at the end of the dry season, when the roads are dust and the jungle is still loud at four in the morning. The shala sat above the treeline, open on three sides, close enough to the water that the practice was always in earshot of it.
The week found its own shape almost immediately: movement at sunrise, breakfast under the palms, whole unhurried afternoons, and sound at dusk. Nobody looked at their phone much. By Wednesday most of us had stopped narrating the trip and simply started living inside it.
The walk to the waterfall on the last morning became the thing everyone remembered. Twenty minutes of barefoot mud, then cold water, then a long silence none of us had planned.
The shape of the week.

“I came for the practice and left with eleven people I now text every week.”
“The first morning I fought the schedule. By the third I forgot I had one.”
